Maybe you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, reactive, unfocused or simply not quite like yourself.
Perhaps sleep has become difficult, your mind feels constantly “on,” or you’ve noticed that stress seems to stay with you long after the situation has passed. You may be looking for support, but not necessarily wanting — or feeling ready — to talk in detail about what you’re experiencing.
Neurofeedback brain training may be one option to consider.
NeurOptimal® neurofeedback is a non-invasive form of brain training that provides the brain with information about its own activity in real time. Sensors placed on the scalp monitor brainwave activity while you relax and listen to music. The system responds to changes in that activity by providing brief auditory feedback.
Our brains are continually adapting in response to new information — an ability often described as neuroplasticity. Neurofeedback works with that natural capacity by giving the brain information about what it is doing in the moment, allowing it the opportunity to notice and adjust its own patterns.
One way to think about it is like looking in a mirror. A mirror doesn’t tell you what to change — it simply gives you information you couldn’t otherwise see. With that information, you naturally make your own adjustments. Neurofeedback offers the brain a similar kind of feedback.
People may choose neurofeedback brain training for many different reasons. Some are interested in supporting sleep, focus, emotional regulation or their ability to respond more flexibly to stress. Others are simply curious about whether brain training might help them feel more settled or function more effectively in everyday life.
Neurofeedback can be used on its own or alongside counselling. For some people, especially those who are not ready or able to talk about their experiences in detail, it can offer another way to begin.
A session itself is simple. Sensors are placed on your scalp while you sit comfortably and listen to music. The system provides feedback while you simply relax.
If you’re curious about whether neurofeedback brain training might be a good fit for you, a free 20-minute consultation gives us a chance to talk about what you’re hoping for, answer your questions, and decide whether it feels like an option worth exploring.
