One of the things I’ve learned over more than 35 years as a counsellor is that having a deeper understanding changes us.
When we begin to understand why we’re struggling, why we react the way we do, or why certain patterns keep repeating, those experiences often become less scary and less overwhelming. What once felt confusing begins to make sense. And from that increased understanding, new possibilities emerge.
The reflections shared here are an opportunity to explore ideas that many people wonder about but rarely have the chance to consider in depth. Some may answer questions you’ve carried for years. Others may simply offer a new perspective that helps you understand yourself—or someone you care about—a little differently.
Each reflection focuses on one idea at a time. My hope is not to overwhelm you with information, but to offer thoughtful, practical insights that make complex emotional experiences easier to understand.
Because when we understand more clearly, we often find ourselves responding with greater compassion, confidence, and intention. And that can become the beginning of meaningful change.
